FAQ

Early success with a new team depends upon a leader’s skill at integrating the team and the knowing how to maximize the unique work styles of employees. New teams generally come together through reorganizations, internal promotions, newly hired leaders as well as mergers and acquisitions. This leadership development program helps organizational leaders and their direct reports meet the challenges of quickly integrating into a productive work unit through compatibility profiles, leadership coaching and team development work.

Coaching Roadmap

Phase 1: Compatibility Assessment and Feedback
LDI will conduct online compatibility profiles on behalf of the organizational leader and his/her direct reports. The profiles measure compatibility between each direct report and the organizational leader. The compatibility tool and this program help leaders hit the ground running by understanding how best to leverage, communicate and motivate diverse employee work styles. Feedback meetings are facilitated by LDI highlighting areas of compatibility and uniqueness between the organizational leader and the direct report. Strategies to enhance the working relationship are identified and an action plan is put into place.

Phase 2: Leadership Development Coaching
We help leaders develop leadership skill sets through a customized program of one-on-one coaching. We help leaders with:

1. Setting the tone in the organization going forward.

2. Leadership style adjustments that calibrate to the new team.

3. Proactively communicating expectations.

4. Developing constructive feedback skills.

5. Collaborating cross-functionally.

6. How to visibly demonstrate investing in their direct report’s success.

Coaching Methodology

  • Provide participant with practical tools and information in the acquisition of skill sets.
  • Regular leadership consulting and coaching are provided for real-time leadership challenges.
  • Use of simulations/role plays to obtain a closer view of the participant’s leadership style and how it may impact others in the organization.
  • Provide real-time feedback to the participant about leadership behaviors LDI observes in coaching meetings and demonstrate alternative leadership approaches.
  • Challenge leadership assumptions that drive leadership behaviors and yet do not get desired results.
  • Relevant reading material given and discussed. For example - Current research findings on influencing strategies, decision-making skills etc.
  • Action items assigned to participant and reviewed at follow-up meetings.

Phase 3: Team Development
LDI will design and facilitate a half-day team development meeting.
Targeted outcomes usually include clarifying roles and responsibilities, resolving team challenges and developing higher levels of team cohesion.
